Manager
The process was pretty chill and easy to go through. I had one in-person interview and then another one online where they asked more in-depth stuff. It was a good way to learn more about the company. Overall, the process was simple.
- The process was straight and conducive.
- There was one in-person interview and another virtual one with more detailed questions on the second run.
- Get a better feel of the company.
Merchandising Manager
The whole thing took more than two months. The first month was me getting an email with questions, which I answered, and then I didn't hear back. I had to reach out to the recruiter a bunch. The second month, I set up interviews with two store GMs. One of them was totally checked out, kept leaving or talking to people not involved. The other one actually asked questions. I was told they'd finish interviews that week and decide. But then two weeks later, I had to chase them again. Turns out the Market Manager, who makes the offer, was out of the country for weeks. Super unprofessional for a manager role. I called the next week and they said they just finished interviews and would call with an offer that day. Two days passed, and I got an email saying I was rejected, no reason given. This was confusing because I was told I'd get an offer call. I felt lied to by the recruiter, which was super disappointing and left a bad impression of the company and everyone involved.
- Can you explain how your past experience is relevant to this position?
Manager-In-Training
I applied online and after a few days a manager from the local Sam's club called me to set up an interview at the store. I went to the interview and it was about 30 minutes total. Even though I have experience and degrees, he told me at the end of the interview that I would not be getting the position because I don't have retail management experience. The manager was friendly, but I really hate wasting time when he could have just not chosen me for an interview if he knew he wasn't going to hire somebody without experience. I met all the job qualifications and you only need an Associate's to apply. I saw other reviews saying they offered the position even without retail experience. I guess this specific location was just really picky about experience. Not sure if I would ever apply for a job with this company again since he suggested I could be a great fit for an hourly role.
- Can you share an instance where you improved a process?
- Could you tell me about yourself?
- Describe a situation where you utilized data to make a decision.
