Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sam's Club.
Associate
It was a simple, straight forward interview. They asked about my previous experience. The managers were friendly and the setting was casual. The interview took place at a cafe table area with the Fresh Food Manager and the Front End Manager.
- Can you explain your reasons for choosing Sam's Club over Walmart?
- Tell me about your previous experience in retail.
- How would you approach and resolve a situation with a really upset customer?

You can apply online or at the in-store kiosk. I'd recommend going to the membership desk and asking to talk to a manager. Introduce yourself and say you're applying. Keep it brief, they're busy. If they call you for an interview, dress business casual. The first interview is with an hourly supervisor, the second with a salary manager, and the third with the GM. These might be on different days. If you get through that, you'll have a drug test, and if you pass, there's a three-day orientation.
- Can you share an example of a past experience where you dealt with a challenging customer?
- How have you managed a disagreement with a colleague in the past?
- Describe a time you had to complete a task under a strict deadline.
Associate
It was a really quick and easy interview process, I was in and out fast and got an offer on the spot. The manager who interviewed me was friendly. Just a heads up, you usually have to be 18 for most jobs, especially in food service, and they are flexible with part-time hours for school schedules.
- What experience do you have in retail?
- What experience do you have in food service?
