I initially spoke with someone in London who seemed unfamiliar with the role. After two months of follow-ups, and despite having someone from the same hiring team in Northern Ireland contact me again about the same position on LinkedIn (even though I was already in the process), I had to push again to get information. Eventually, I had a second non-technical interview with someone in London. This person also seemed unaware of the role's specifics but asked about my background and explained how PA worked. They then asked some basic technical questions. At the end, they said I'd proceed to the next stage. A week later, HR informed me that I wouldn't be progressed because others were a better fit. I did mention my controlled Epilepsy, which I wouldn't do again in future interviews. I'd strongly suggest going through external recruiters, as the internal hiring team was one of the worst I've encountered. Given my experience, I would have declined further interviews anyway. I was only casually looking, and they didn't do enough to impress me or sell the company, quite the opposite, especially since no one from the Manchester office could discuss opportunities there.

Behavioral Technical

The interview process started off great and felt really positive. The first two stages were awesome, the interviewers were clear, authentic, and genuinely engaging. Communication was timely and supportive, keeping me in the loop. But the last stage with the hiring manager wasn't what I expected. The interviewer was almost 10 minutes late because of a last-minute room booking, making me question if the interview was still on. Even though I got the situation, the chat that followed felt vague and informal. No technical questions came up, but the feedback later said I lacked technical expertise, which didn't match the discussion or the earlier parts of the process. Also, only after the final interview did I learn that client demand had shifted and there were fewer Delivery Manager roles available. I'd asked earlier about confirmed roles and hiring numbers but didn't get a straight answer. It was frustrating to find out hiring needs changed after going through all the interview stages. Advice for PA Consulting: Be upfront about the number of roles and any uncertainty in client demand from the beginning. Make sure the interview conversations line up with the evaluation criteria used for feedback. The process started well, but more clarity and alignment throughout would really improve the candidate experience.

Behavioral Technical

So there were 6 rounds total, and the recruiter screened first. The recruiter was kinda unprofessional and didn't give much info, just said to be ready for anything. The first round was behavioral, where they just asked questions from a list, felt super robotic. Then two technical rounds, and it was the same thing, just reading questions. One interviewer seemed new, like only 2 years experience, and not that strong in data stuff. When I talked about Hadoop architecture, clusters, YARN, and Zookeeper, he clearly didn't know what I was talking about. He kept looking at his other monitor, maybe using ChatGPT or something, it was weird. Those two rounds were identical. The last two rounds were in-person at their office, but they wouldn't cover travel or hotel. Maybe that's why I got rejected. No feedback was given. Also, each round was about a week apart, so the whole thing took like 3 weeks, which was a long time.

Group Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

First, we had a group interview where we were split into two teams. Each team got some case documents (5 PDFs) to review. We had to discuss internally which case set to pick for an M&A case and then present our chosen set to the HR. They weren't looking for the 'right' answer but wanted to see our quick math and thinking skills, and how we collaborate. The second round was supposed to be technical and behavioral, but the technical part was actually a behavioral interview asking about skills and experiences. The behavioral questions were pretty standard, like 'tell me about a time' questions and other common ones you can find online. Finally, there was a Partner interview. I was told it would be a casual meet & greet, but it turned out to be the most challenging round. The Partner asked about my past experiences and gave me a case study-type question: how I'd estimate transmission infrastructure demand considering the rise of the renewable market. He also asked questions like why I chose PA and consulting, and what my fears are about the role.
