First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PA Consulting.
Data Scientist
There were quite a few online rounds. I had to complete IQ tests, behavioral assessments, and record video responses to questions. I decided to stop because it felt like too much, especially for a technical position.
- Why are you interested in this position?
- Tell me about a situation where you had to manage a non-technical task and come up with solutions, even though it wasn't your primary focus.
Data Scientist
Applied, then did a Hirevue and an assessment centre. The assessment day had 4 tasks: a group exercise with a partner, a 5-minute presentation, a case study interview, and a 1 to 1 chat with a senior person. The whole assessment day was from 9pm to 1pm and it was a smooth process. But, no offer was made.
- Why is collaboration important?
- What's your approach to dealing with unclear feedback about your work?
- How would you approach a project where you lack prior experience?
Applied Scientist
There were three interviews, each an hour long. Two were technical interviews with senior consultants in similar fields, and one was with HR. The technical interviews covered my technical knowledge from my current project and PhD. I had to show I could explain my projects to a general audience. There were also questions about interpersonal/communication skills, like how I'd handle difficult situations or market myself for a project, and questions to show innovative thinking.
- Could you tell me about your PhD project and explain a technical challenge you faced and how you overcame it?
- Suppose you need to quality control the 3D size of an item; what would be your approach?
- Explain your projects so someone without a technical background could understand.
