I applied on Workday. The recruiter reached out. They explained the whole process after the first contact. There are 4 interviews in total, including the first recruiter call. Each interview is about 1 hour long. The stages are: Recruitment, Hiring Manager (for cultural fit), Tech (testing tech knowledge, C#, and a pair programming exercise), and another Tech interview focusing on System Design and a practical exercise.

Behavioral Technical Coding Presentation

I was contacted by a recruiter who thought I would be a good fit, so I applied. I received a quick response for an initial screening call with a very nice and enthusiastic recruiter. Soon after, a cultural interview with the hiring manager was scheduled. This interview included a brief, simple technical challenge. Next, I was given a take-home assessment with a flexible one-week deadline. After submitting it, another interview was set up to present my work. Unfortunately, the engineers during this presentation were extremely rude and dismissive, constantly interrupting me and invalidating my responses and implementation before I could fully explain. They seemed to lack understanding of the assignment's scope and had unrealistic expectations for the work I submitted. This was a terrible interview experience. If this is indicative of the company culture, I'm glad I didn't proceed. Hopefully, this was an isolated incident.

I interviewed for the Compliance Manager job at OutSystems. The interview process was professional and engaging. I enjoyed meeting the team and learning about the company’s mission and compliance goals. Everyone seemed knowledgeable and passionate. However, the communication afterward was disappointing. Days after our talk, I saw a LinkedIn post from the hiring manager about hiring a Compliance Manager — the same job I interviewed for. When I asked the recruiter, she said I was out of consideration. Workday still said 'Interviews Underway.' Hiring decisions can change, but it would be more professional to send a message or email about the outcome before reposting the job. This small step makes a big difference in the candidate experience and shows the company’s commitment to respectful communication. Overall, the interview was positive, but the lack of closure and transparency at the end left a negative impression.

The recruiter reached out directly to set up a screening call. The call was not difficult but rather disorganized. There was little information on the role and ambiguity about what their ideal candidate looked like. After two self-imposed deadlines came and went for the recruiter to follow up with scheduling next steps, I was ghosted. Upon further research with those who are with and have been with OutSystems, I can confidently say I dodged a bullet with this company. Ensure you receive answers during the process about the role within the greater context/strategy of OutSystems. The answer(s) should be telling.
