First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Omni Hotels.
Administrative Assistant
I applied and then got an email and then a call from the recruiter. Then I had a 20-minute phone screen. After that, she said she'd schedule an in-person interview with two other people. I had my in-person interview with the manager and HR. The HR person mentioned that if I moved forward, they would do a background check and need references, and that they couldn't hire me without them. She asked for phone numbers for all the companies I'd worked for. After the interview, I emailed her the phone numbers. I'm assuming she got them since she didn't say anything, even though I didn't get a confirmation. She also said they had just started the search and I was the first person they interviewed. About a week later, I got the rejection letter.
- What would be your first steps in organizing things if you started today?
Marketing and Events Coordinator
This phone interview was surprisingly bad and unprofessional, lasting only 5 minutes instead of the planned 15. The recruiter seemed bored and just went through the motions, not showing any real interest in my background. They only asked about salary and when I could start, completely skipping any talk about my actual skills for the job. It felt more like an interrogation with their rapid-fire questions and dismissive attitude. They didn't even ask if I had questions, which made me wonder about OMNI's candidate treatment. Honestly, it was the most impersonal interview I've had, and it makes me question the company culture if this is how they recruit.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What makes you interested in this role?
- When would you be able to start?
Sales
I had a first chat with HR, who was really nice and made it a relaxed conversation. Then, two managers were set to interview me. HR scheduled it and told me who I'd meet. When I arrived, the first manager I saw was very nice and we had a chill interview, though they seemed a bit unprepared. The second manager I met with was in a hurry and we had to rush through our chat, and they also weren't ready for the meeting. Even with those hiccups, I think the interviews went well and I'm definitely qualified for the job.
- Asked some specific questions about things related to their department.
HR Director
It was a three-part interview process. First, a virtual prescreen over Teams with the Area HR Director. Second, a virtual interview over Teams with the General Manager, who was the hiring manager. Both virtual interviews were under an hour. Finally, there was an in-person informal interview with leaders, lasting about 3-4 hours, where I met various leaders I would have supported. The interviewers didn't really have specific questions, it was more of a casual conversation, seeming to focus on chemistry. One interviewer even said 'welcome to the team.' The questions weren't in STAR format. The General Manager mentioned that training and development are needed and talked about company perks like free lunch/dinner and parking.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- Do you have experience with unions?
- What aspect of HR do you enjoy the most?
