First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NOV.
Project Manager
I started with a call from the HR manager. Then, I had an in-person interview with the Department Head and Regional Manager. It seemed like a good interview. They said they'd let me know, but it's a bummer I never heard back via email or phone. After three weeks, I checked the NOV careers page and found out I wasn't selected. It was disappointing since they had me drive 170km for the interview, even though they had officers closer by.

Process Control Engineer
The interview process for the Process Control Engineer role involved an initial video interview with the hiring manager, lasting about 45 minutes. During this meeting, the manager inquired about my experience in heavy industry, as well as the physical and technical demands of the position. They also provided an overview of the company's products and operational processes. Although the interview itself went well, I was not extended an offer because the position was filled by an internal candidate.

Data Performance Engineer
The hiring process was incredibly fast! After submitting my application, I received a call from HR right after the deadline. She wanted to schedule a quick 15-minute call, which she set up for the next day. During that call, she went over the job details, benefits, and working conditions. She also asked some general questions about my background, my interest in NOV, my salary expectations, and my availability. A few days later, HR contacted me again to say the manager wanted to talk, so she booked the '1st interview' for an hour. This call happened a week after the HR chat, was via Teams, lasted about 20 minutes, and only involved one person. It felt more like a casual chat than a formal interview. He asked for a summary of my experience, confirmed I lived locally, asked if I was a quick learner, inquired whether my past work leaned more towards engineering or analysis (as they needed someone analytical), and asked why I left my last job. He also described a typical day for a data performance engineer at NOV and gave me a chance to ask questions. He mentioned he was impressed with my presentation and we'd have another chat in 1-2 weeks. Two weeks later, HR confirmed my availability for the '2nd interview,' scheduled for the following week with the same person. This meeting wasn't really an interview; the interviewer just asked how I was doing and if I was still interested. He then shared the approximate salary and the hybrid work arrangement (3 days office, 2 days remote), giving me 24 hours to consider and discuss with my husband. I accepted the verbal offer the next day, and the day after that was filled with paperwork. I joined the team just three weeks after the second interview, and they offered a salary higher than I expected.

Cybersecurity Analyst
The interview process was pretty fun and engaging. The hiring managers were friendly right from the start and made me feel comfortable. It felt more like a chat than a formal test. The team seemed really interested in my ideas and what I've done before. They asked creative questions and we had discussions that made me think outside the box, which was enjoyable. Overall, it was a positive and chill experience, and I'm excited about the job and the company.
- What's your approach when you have a conflict with your boss?
