Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at NOV.
Accounts Receivable Specialist
It was a pretty straightforward interview. The interviewer answered everything I asked very clearly, and their questions were relevant and didn't put me on the spot. They didn't ask any tricky questions. Honestly, it was one of the better interview experiences I've had.
- Can you tell me about the average monthly invoice billing volume?
Staff Accountant
I got the interview through a family connection to a recruiter at NOV. The actual company was FiberSpar, which NOV bought recently. I applied for the staff accountant role, and the recruiter sent my resume to the hiring manager. He called within a week and set up a 1-on-1 in-person interview at FiberSpar's headquarters. The interview included basic behavioral questions and some technical accounting questions about account reconciliations. The hiring manager was pretty informal and said things like, "I'm not going to ask you stock interview questions because I want to get to know you." Overall, it was a neutral experience. The NOV recruiter was great, but the hiring manager never followed up to say the position was filled, which felt disrespectful. Still, I appreciated the NOV recruiter's positive attitude. It was neutral.
- What motivates your interest in this position?
- How does your previous experience align with the requirements of this role?
Staff Accountant
The interview process was lengthy and challenging. It's best not to over-prepare as the questions are dynamic and build on your previous responses. It felt like a test of personal behavior. Ultimately, it seemed like a 'likeability' hire.
- Can you discuss your background and experience?
