First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Millward Brown.
Project Executive
I applied through LinkedIn. The first step was a phone screen with internal HR. The person was nice, but they gave me some advice on topics that didn't even come up in the next interview. The final interview was face-to-face with three people: the head of the department, my potential line manager, and a director. The head of the department was really friendly and easy to talk to. They asked about my CV, my experience, and my knowledge of different brands. I got a call back the same day as the interview to let me know I got the job.
- Can you tell me about your favorite brand and explain your reasoning?
- What is your favorite brand and why?
- Tell me about your CV and experience.
Research
First, I had to write a special cover letter comparing my skills to the job description in a two-column table. I also had to answer a bunch of questions about my interest, suitability, experience with details, current work status, and compensation. After that, I got a phone screen. Once I passed, my info went to the hiring manager. They asked me for an interview, but then I didn't hear back for a week. After I followed up, they said I'd have two 30-minute interviews, each with two people (one phone, one in person), and a 30-minute skills assessment. The interviews went fine. They said they wanted to give me an offer, but internal issues were slowing things down. This went on for 4 months and then I never heard from them again.
- I had to compare myself with every bullet point on the job description before the phone screen.
- Why are you interested in this specific job?
- Why are you well suited to it?
Project Manager
I had a call with an HR person from another country about an assessment center. It was for 7 candidates and 3 company reps, including the local director. The day included a company intro, self-introductions, and a case study to test logical thinking and task organization. No special skills were needed. We had an hour to prep and then presented our ideas to two employees. Job conditions and salary were discussed then. The ad wasn't clear, and one person left. For a full day, salary talks should have been earlier. We found out our expectations didn't match. They mentioned a gentleman's agreement to stay 2 years, despite limited growth opportunities. They asked if I could start sooner than my 2-month notice. The director promised a call within two days, but I never heard back.
- What are your salary expectations?
- Why are you interested in this role?
Intern
So I had this personality quiz interview, it was 8 questions that were logical and mental, and I had to fill out 6 pages. Right after that, I had an oral interview, it was one on one with the manager. They asked me about my background and if I knew about marketing research. Then I had to do the personality quiz again, 8 questions, logical and mental, 6 pages to write. And that same day, another oral interview, one on one with the manager, about my background and marketing research knowledge. And guess what? The personality quiz again, 8 logical/mental questions, 6 pages to write. And on that same day, one more oral interview with the manager, asking about my background and marketing research stuff.
- What was your former experience as a marketing intern?
- What do you know about qualitative marketing research?
