I was considered for a Software Engineer role at Cisco Meraki Sydney a while back. The application unexpectedly didn't even get past the HR screen after a call with an HR representative. This was a really unfair and unprofessional recruiting experience. As a senior candidate with prior experience at recognized tech companies, including Cisco, and now with a better employer, I felt compelled to share this. The HR person asked me something that was explicitly stated on my CV, with what seemed like a biased and unprofessional tone. I answered all questions patiently and ended the call. Later, I received a rejection message. It was the first time I was rejected during an HR screen, and it didn't make sense because the job description aligned perfectly with my background and skillset. I suspect the hiring manager never even saw my application. Despite the unpleasant experience, looking back, I'm glad it didn't proceed, as I wouldn't want to work for such a company. It's a shame for the HR staff.

It was a long and intense interview process. The person who did my last technical interview was new to the team and had a senior colleague shadowing. He wasn't very professional, and the senior colleague apologized for his attitude during the interview. I decided not to move forward with the hiring process after they invited me to their office for the final step.

The interview process started with an HR interview, which was pretty standard. Then, the hiring manager interview was next. This was a really unusual interview experience, especially since it was scheduled for 7pm. The interviewer was quite rude, condescending, and arrogant throughout. I was taken aback by how I was spoken to, which is not something I've encountered before in a professional setting, let alone an interview. The interviewer didn't even bother introducing themselves and immediately launched into aggressive questions.
