The interview process spanned four months. The recruiter often stated updates would be provided by the end of the week or shortly, but weeks would pass without communication. Towards the end, a project was requested, which felt misplaced as it should have been introduced earlier to assess candidate suitability. Projects are essentially free labor, and requesting one late in the process, after significant time has already elapsed, is inefficient. The project was presented to senior leadership, yet no feedback was received. Later, it became apparent that ideas from the project were being discussed with third parties as concepts the company was considering.

I was working at Macy's a few years back in the late 2010s. The cosmetics manager had a chat with me and asked me a few questions. Some were kinda tricky, like what I'd do if I saw someone I worked with stealing. But most were pretty standard. She was also super nice and understanding, especially since I wasn't sure how to answer some things. They get that you need to learn stuff when you're starting out. All in all, it was a really good interview experience for someone new to applying for jobs.

First interview was with the hiring manager where they asked about my resume and my availability for another interview. The second interview was with someone from the accounting department. We discussed the job, benefits, team, and my responsibilities. They also asked some general questions about me. They said they would let me know about another interview but I never heard back.

So after applying online, you gotta do this assessment thing. Then there's a phone screening, and if you pass that, you come in for an in-person interview with the store manager. We'll chat about your past experiences, how you work with others, and how you deal with customers. You'll also get some situational questions to see how you'd handle things, and show us your problem-solving skills. We'll go over your availability too. If all goes well, you get a job offer, then you do onboarding, and start training on how to do things on the sales floor.
