Then, I interviewed with the National Manager for China, which was similar but included more questions about how I'd handle specific situations. Finally, I had an interview with a Board Member.

I had 2 interviews, one with HR and one with the hiring manager. A few days later the TA director called me to offer me the role but with a lower salary than the minimum I would consider. I had already said what my minimum salary would be when I submitted the application for the role and also during my 1st interview with HR. After I turned down the offer and told the TA director that I wanted to withdraw my application for the role, she still contacted me from a different number. Wasting people's time and not respecting their wish to withdraw their application is extremely unprofessional.

The interview process was quite thorough. Initially, I spoke with HR, and afterward, I had a conversation with the hiring manager. Both individuals were very pleasant and professional. I asked the HR representative numerous questions regarding the benefits package, while my inquiries for the manager focused on the specific duties and potential liabilities associated with the role.

So, my interview at International SOS was with the Regional Managing Director, and it was about 30 minutes. It was pretty professional but also engaging, and we talked about my experience working in remote medical places and the difficulties you run into offshore. They wanted to know how I'd handle certain medical issues and show I can work on my own when things get intense. Like, one scenario was about dealing with chest pain in a 56-year-old guy on an offshore site. My plan would be to first check his vitals like BP, heart rate, and oxygen. If he needed it, I'd give him oxygen, and aspirin to help with clotting. I'd also think about giving him nitroglycerin if it was safe, to ease the pain. Then, I'd do an ECG to see if it's a heart attack and start the process for a medevac if he needed care I couldn't provide there.
