I got through the first interview and they asked for references. I gave two good ones, but one manager wasn't my most recent one, so HR asked for another reference without explaining why. I quickly got two more references, one from my last manager at the previous job and one from my current manager. Both were great. HR didn't do the checks in time for the induction, but they did check the references anyway. Then they told me I'd be shortlisted for the next intake. I was then contacted to interview for two other positions at the company. For one of them, they said I had what they were looking for and my experience was great. A month later, HR contacted me again. They said they thought I'd be a better fit for the first position I applied for and wanted to interview me again for the Operations Coordinator role. Honestly, I wasn't thrilled about interviewing again for a job I was already successful in, especially since it had been a few months. Also, being told I was shortlisted and then having to interview again felt unfair, especially since all four reference checks were positive (I even checked with my references). I interviewed again. This time, they told me I wasn't successful for ANY of the three positions. They hired internally and said they didn't think I could handle a fast-paced inbound call center, even though I have 20 years of call center experience. What a hassle!

Found the job on LinkedIn and applied. A couple weeks later, I emailed the recruiter, Joe, to show I was still interested and also connected with him on LinkedIn. He immediately set up a phone interview, then an in-person one with Manager Rory. Both Joe and Rory were super nice and helpful, and it felt like they really valued their employees and the job. Got a call the day after the interview with an offer, which I took! I was drawn to the support provided, the diverse work environment, and the chances to advance my career. The company even has a 3-year development program with mentors to help people grow internally.

International SOS's HR is unprofessional for the International Ops Coordinator position, which is a call center role. They make it sound glamorous but it's a terrible position that people quit quickly. They should be more honest. The process is fast: screening phone interview, 1-2 online IQ tests, in-person panel interview, and a role-play. The role-play is useless because you have to use policies you don't know and make things up. They keep making the job sound great but it's just a call center. They probably add "International" to get more applications. If their HR is this unprofessional, it's surprising the business functions.
