Recruiter
I started with an initial meeting over Microsoft Teams, and the recruiter interviewed me twice before offering an in-person interview. The in-person interview was much more interpersonal; they had me meet the team and introduced me to everyone on the floor. When the actual interview started, it seemed they were scanning my personal communication skills without being prudent to my abilities to complete the job. I was invited back for a shadow/lunch session, which was another test environment of my personal communication skills. I felt this environment was supportive but felt off. I appreciated the time to interview but was told multiple times, 'We believe you have the technical ability to complete the job.' I was told the day after that they were moving forward with other candidates. I completed a total of six interviews for this position, with arguably more effort and time spent than I would like to interview. The shadow session and lunch interview took nearly 4 hours of my time (travel, parking, interview, lunch, shadowing time). I wouldn't spend this much time in pursuit of a position I was not going to be offered. Indirectly, I never was able to speak with anyone in the office I was interviewing at previous to the interviews themselves. My recruiter operated as a liaison to me and the office without direct connection with the office.

VFX Artist
Insight Global reached out to me about a contract VFX Artist role for a Meta team. First, I had a short phone screen with the recruiter covering my background, reel, availability, and pay range. Then, they looked through my portfolio, asked about a few specific shots, and discussed the tools I use (Houdini, Unreal, Niagara, etc.) and how I work in a remote pipeline. There wasn't a formal test, just questions about my portfolio and experience. The whole process was chill, clear, and moved fast from the first call to the offer.

Designer
I'm writing this because I hope it leads to accountability or better practices in the future. A recruiter from Insight Global contacted me by phone on Nov 3rd, having found me on LinkedIn, to pitch me for a contract design role with Epic Games that was a rapid hire. I was excited to be submitted, as the recruiter sold me on the role and assured me I was a great candidate, similar to someone they recently placed. The recruiter also sent me more info via company email, and her LinkedIn profile confirmed her position. On Nov 5th, I heard back that I was likely one of the top 2 candidates and that they would almost certainly want to interview me. They asked for more work examples, which I submitted by the end of the day. The recruiter thanked me and said I could call or text if I needed anything else. However, I haven't heard anything since then, despite several worried check-ins over the past two weeks asking for updates or confirmation of closure. I hope the recruiter is well, and I assume someone else would have reached out if their role changed. Otherwise, ghosting is never okay. I've worked with many other recruitment agencies, and even when a role wasn't a fit, they always provided an update, regardless of the outcome, and ended things positively, maintaining the connection for future opportunities. I'm not sure if ghosting candidates is standard practice at Insight Global, but I'll be very wary of other recruiters from this organization in the future, as they apparently don't respect your time or well-being if their client doesn't choose you. This has been incredibly bizarre and even cruel compared to other recruitment agency experiences. The whole experience has negatively impacted my mental health and outlook in a tough industry and job market. I can only assume I'm not the only one left without answers by this recruiter. This also reflects poorly on Epic Games. Do better!!

Application Architect
So, I went for an Application Architect job at Scientific Games, but Insight Global handled all the hiring, and honestly, it was one of the worst recruitment experiences ever. Insight Global was super slow with communication, and it was all over the place and confusing. Like, asking basic stuff took ages to get an answer, and they kept saying they were waiting on Scientific Games. Then I found out some of the info they gave me wasn't even right or was missing, which messed up my progress. Plus, there was zero transparency. We agreed on what the job was and what I'd get paid at the start. But by the end, they were talking about completely different stuff than what we first discussed, and they didn't even explain why. It felt like a total bait-and-switch. Just to be clear, the interviewers at Scientific Games themselves were great. All the problems were with how Insight Global ran things. It's a shame because if they'd handled it right, I would've taken the offer. The job itself was cool, but dealing with Insight Global made it a no-go. After I complained about how they managed everything, Insight Global didn't even bother to reply, which just confirmed how bad the experience was. Basically, it was a huge waste of my time and super frustrating. I really think Scientific Games should check how Insight Global is representing them to people. My advice to recruiters and interviewers: keep people updated accurately, make sure you're all on the same page internally, and be honest and respectful to candidates, especially for senior roles.
