First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Hertz.
Customer Service Sales Associate
Applied online and got an email to schedule an interview. On the interview day, the interviewer said they didn't know about the interview and passed me to the GM. Another person was there for their first day and also didn't know where to go. The interviewer told us to get in a car to go to another office. Once there, we were told to go to the conference room. The office smelled really bad, like microwaved seafood at 8:30 am. I waited in a dark conference room for 10 minutes, then left and went back to the original location. It was clear they didn't have my info or resume and wouldn't know what job I applied for. Lots of red flags, very disorganized. Glad I left.

Account Executive
First, there was a 30-minute call with the recruiter. About a week later, I had my first interview with the office manager and the executive assistant. This interview lasted 45 minutes and included standard questions for the executive assistant role. It wasn't a difficult role, it's just all about how you present yourself.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What is your motivation for wanting to work at HERTZ?
Manager Trainee
I applied a week ago and got an email from a recruiter asking for my resume because she couldn't see it. I sent it and waited 3 days, then called her. She apologized and sent an interview link. I had an interview with the branch manager, which seemed nice. He asked me questions I answered well, and I asked him about the day-to-day. We finished the call with him giving me his email for more questions. I sent a thank you email 5 mins later but got no response. 5 days later, I checked the Hertz portal for other locations and saw the job I interviewed for listed me as not selected. It would have been nice to get an email so I didn't have to put other applications on hold.
- Can you describe your past work experience and your daily responsibilities in your previous role?
Finance Manager
It was a pretty long process with a lot of people involved. First, there was a recruiter pre-screen where I had to schedule a specific time. Then, depending on the office, I interviewed with the location manager. After that, I spoke with the regional GM, followed by the national manager. If I passed those, there was a thorough background check, including references and verifying my education. Finally, if I got through all that, there was a potential offer and a drug screen.
- Describe a situation where you encountered a challenge and explain the steps you took to resolve it.
