Accountant
So basically there were 3 rounds. First I had a quick chat with HR, then the hiring manager, and finally the director. The HR chat was 30 mins, the hiring manager interview was an hour, and the director interview was another 30 mins. They asked me some technical questions and also gave me a practical excel question. Also a behavioral question about a past mistake.
- Can you share an instance where you made an error?
- How would you approach this practical Excel task?
- Prepare and deliver an Excel presentation.
Graduate Engineering Trainee
So the whole thing usually kicks off with like a quick screening call, you know, just to see if you're even in the ballpark. Then, you'll probably have one or more interviews where they're trying to figure out if you've got the skills, the experience, and if you'd vibe with the team. Sometimes, they'll throw in some technical or practical tests for you to do. After that, it's usually the final interviews with the higher-ups, like the senior folks or management. The last bits are usually checking your references and then, hopefully, they'll give you an offer if everything checks out.
- Can you explain the difference between how a Python generator function works and how a regular function operates?
Receptionist
The interview process is quick and easy. I applied online and then I received a request for a MS Teams interview a couple of days later. The interview questions were very easy with very basic questions. The interviewer was rude and speaks down to you. You'll feel like you're being pushed into the job without knowing anything, including things like pay and location. They do not want you to ask them questions. They don't tell you about the job because they just want you to take the job as fast as possible.
- What made you apply to H&R Block?
- What prompted your application for the receptionist role?
- Describe a situation where you were assigned duties beyond your official job description.
Manager
It was fine but they made it clear multiple times how crazy the hours were and how "this isn't the right job for everyone..." I went through three interviews via Microsoft teams, but wasn't available during the day/time they wanted the final interview. The DM started BLOWING up my phone, multiple texts, emails, even calls, saying "its just 15 mins, just 15 mins." He would not stop, continuing to send email invites during times I was not available and just telling me to "take a break and just do it." Well, its not about it only being a 15 minute interview. Its about the lack of respect for my personal time. It gave me an insight to how this person would behave as my direct supervisor. No thanks.
- What's your approach to recruiting new clients?
