Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at H&R Block.
Marketing Coordinator
First, I had a phone screen with a recruiter. Then, I had an in-person interview locally with the Field Marketing Director. It was a 30-45 minute interview, and he asked me questions using the STAR method. He also gave me about 15 minutes to ask questions. The interview was really friendly and straightforward. I got an offer about a week after interviewing.
- Can you describe a situation where you led a team without having direct authority, and explain how you motivated them to follow your direction?
Marketing Coordinator
I had 2 phone interviews for the Marketing Coordinator role. First, I spoke with the District Manager, and then with the Regional Marketing Manager. They asked about my past experience and wanted specific examples of how I'd handle different scenarios. The District Manager focused on local marketing strategies for her area, while the Regional Marketing Manager asked broader questions about marketing approaches and how I'd react to the District Manager's requests.
- Given a lot of snow, how would you approach outdoor marketing?
Marketing Coordinator
So the interview process was in three parts. First, I had a phone call. Then, a Skype interview with the regional marketing manager. Finally, I had an interview with the district managers.
