Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at H&R Block.
Tax Preparer
After applying on the H&R Block website, I called the office and spoke to a preparer to set up my interview. I then met with two experienced preparers who were very nice and knowledgeable. We discussed my previous work history and their backgrounds. It felt more like a friendly chat than a formal interview. I also had the chance to ask them questions. It was a great interview experience.
- Can you share your previous experience in tax preparation?
Tax Professional
It was an easy and quick interview process, but they didn't tell me upfront about some things the interview would require. Overall, the process was easy, and they hired me after we talked about some things that weren't initially brought up.
- Are you interested in tax preparation?
Tax Professional
The interview process wasn't too long and felt productive and engaging. I regret not asking more about salary, as that would have prevented me from proceeding further. During their training class, I was under the impression the starting pay was $15/hour. It was only when I received the job offer that I discovered it was actually $10/hour plus unpredictable commission, which wouldn't have been profitable for me at that time.
- Why are you interested in working for this company?
