& Process

Foram duas entrevistas com o pessoal de seleção e mais duas com funcionários da ENGIE. Com o pessoal de seleção, foi o básico: o que eu faço, minhas tarefas e habilidades. Já diretamente com a ENGIE foi uma entrevista mais a fundo sobre minhas atuações, aquela pergunta básica sobre o maior desafio e tudo mais. Perguntas específicas sobre conhecimentos fundiários, o que eu já fiz ou não fiz na área e um pouco sobre mim, o que eu gosto e como sou. Todas as entrevistas foram tranquilas.

The interview process at ENGIE was pretty buttoned up and professional. First, there was an HR chat where they wanted to see if I was motivated, a good cultural fit, and if I understood ENGIE’s energy markets and transition strategy. Then, I had a technical interview with some senior traders. They grilled me on market fundamentals for power, gas, and commodities, how risk management works, pricing logic, and some real trading scenarios. They also wanted to know about my past trades, what made my P&L tick, and how I handle market stress.

The interview process was unprofessional. I was offered a position after the interview, but the offer was withdrawn a week later without proper explanation. The role was presented as a 3-month contract through an agency, with the title under Engie only upon successful completion of probation. However, there was uncertainty about confirmation after the 3-month period, which was not clearly communicated upfront. This lack of transparency caused unnecessary delays and wasted my time.

I was scheduled for a team interview at their downtown Oakland offices years ago. It felt like a waste of time because they seem to be farming information rather than actually hiring. I didn't realize free consultations were disguised as job interviews. The questions were specific to the job and showed me they're having issues with their process. They're essentially hearing people's ideas during these "interviews," stealing their suggestions, and profiting from them.
