First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ecolab.
Associate Financial Analyst
The interview process started with a call from HR. Then there was one online interview with the team members. It lasted about 20-30 minutes. I was asked basic screening questions like tell me about yourself or why do you want to work here. I was a bit disappointed because the job description didn't specify the hour range and the actual time commitment they expected from the intern. The job description said minimum 20 hours, but they stated it's a minimum of 30 hours, and the last week of the month requires full-time availability.
- How would you handle this scenario? (Excel problem)
Collections Analyst
I was called for 3 interviews over 3 days, one of them in English, with no prep time. They made it seem like I was a sure hire. Then they ghosted me, and when I asked a certain HR lady from Ecolab what happened or at least for feedback, she never answered. Months later they contacted me again for another selection process with this same company and logically I said no. Total lack of respect and unprofessional.
- What was your knowledge of the company?
- What were the objectives?
- In 5 years, where do you see yourself?
Area Manager
Submitted an online application. About three weeks later, I was invited for a phone screen. However, the call was canceled by the interviewer, Allison L, at the very last minute. The call was scheduled for 2:00 PM, and at 1:59 PM, I received an email from her stating that she had a conflict and needed to reschedule. She asked for my availability for the rest of the week and the following week. I provided my availability, but there was no follow-up from Allison L, even after I shared my schedule. This experience, similar to what I've encountered with contingency recruiters before, is highly unprofessional and a waste of my time. Allison, you're the type of recruiter who gives the profession a bad name.

Application Engineer
The interview process included describing cooling towers and boilers and their working principles. Then, there was a discussion about the internship and a project. HR questions followed, focusing on how to manage an organization. There was also a group activity where ideas needed to be considered, and a final decision made on which idea to pursue.
- What is a cooling tower and explain its working principle, and why is it utilized in industry?
- What is a boiler, explain its working principle, and why is it used in industry?
- Tell me about your internship.
