Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ecolab.
Technical Sales Engineer
The interview process was pretty straightforward and felt like a casual chat. I had two separate 15-minute phone calls with different managers. They mainly asked about my past experiences and about me as a person.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Describe a time you encountered a problem and how you solved it.
Sales Engineer
The interview process is quite lengthy, as they are thorough in selecting top talent. You'll start with the local Manager, followed by a 'ride-along' with a non-manager to see the day-to-day reality of the job. Be mindful during the ride-along, as your interactions and questions will be reported back to the Manager. You might have another interview with the local Manager, but you will definitely meet with the Area Vice President and the National Sales President. This final stage can be intense, described as 'good cop/bad cop,' designed to assess your performance under pressure. Successfully navigating the AVP/National level interviews generally means you're in, barring any major missteps.
- What makes you the best candidate for this role?
Sales Engineer
I went through the interview process at the campus career fair. It was just one interview with the hiring manager, who was the only person from the company there. We mostly talked about behavioral things, but they did ask a couple of technical questions too.
- How would you handle a dissatisfied customer?
- Tell me about your past sales experience that's relevant to this role.
