First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Coupa Software Inc.
SRE/DevOps Engineer
The first round was a technical one, focusing on coding and problem-solving with data structures and algorithms. I had to solve two coding questions within a time limit, and I had to explain my approach and optimize where I could. The second round was also technical, but more conceptual and scenario-based. They asked me about OOPs, databases, and API design, and I also talked about my past projects, how I tackled performance issues, and debugging. The third round was a practical, hands-on technical one. I had to write and explain code, do a debugging task, and talk about version control, CI/CD, and deployment stuff. The interviewer also wanted to know how I work in a team and do documentation. This last one was with the hiring manager.
- Asked to write code for a medium difficulty problem.
- Asked to design a database schema.
- Asked about my previous projects.
Senior Software Engineer
It was a 3-round process. The first round was a screening, covering product development background and some basic questions about logging and the technologies used. Round 2 focused on system design, involving discussions on microservices, API gateways, JWT authentication, gRPC vs. REST, and SQL vs. NoSQL databases, culminating in a rate limiter design problem. The final round was a techno-managerial interview that included team handling and a system design task for WhatsApp.
- Can you design a rate limiter?

Deal Desk Specialist
I went through the interview process in August and September 2025 for this role and sadly wasn't chosen even though I made it all the way to the end. There were 8 interviews in total over a month. About halfway through, I saw the same job posted again, but this time in Colombia. This made me question how open the process was. It would have been good to know from the start that I was also up against candidates in places with lower living costs. This is really important info, especially for remote jobs where people might expect different pay. I don't think I stood a chance once that happened.
- Could you describe your understanding of the deal desk function?
Benefits Analyst
It was a pretty standard process, but I had to follow up a few times to get an update and feedback. The link for the second interview didn't work, which was stressful. The first call went well. After the second interview, they said my 'talents would be wasted' on the role even though I wanted it and thought I'd be good at it. They did say I was a 'good cultural fit' though. A few days later, I saw the role was posted again, so I messaged them saying I was still interested and asked if I should reapply. I was completely ignored and felt brushed off, and the feedback felt like it was just to make me feel better and wasn't genuine. They mentioned a possible role later in the year, but after how I was treated, I don't believe they'd actually consider a future candidate. I'm really disappointed with how I was treated; I would have understood a honest rejection.
- Can you share an instance where you managed a significant volume of data?
