First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Coupa Software Inc.
Manager
The interview process for the Manager role involved 6 rounds. The first round was a call with the hiring manager. The subsequent rounds were with individuals from different teams with whom the position would interact on a daily basis. The questions asked during the interviews were considered average. The work culture at Coupa was noted as being very good.
- What makes you want to join our company?
Manager
The interview process was generally good - after the interview is the issue. Had 7 rounds of interviews, all 1-1 with different levels in the organisation. Most people were very welcoming, there were one or two interviewers that I would questions their interviewing skills; one was very negative about other Coupa functions/teams. Received very positive feedback during some of the interviews, which obviously left me feeling very positive about receiving an offer. Has been over a week since last interview with radio silence ever since. Have sent follow up emails with no response nor acknowledgement. This is the most disappointing part. I would have expected Coupa, with all of their talk about people and how important they are, etc, to at least respond or give feedback to candidates. One of their values is to ensure customer success. I would question how real this now is when they don't appear to ensure candidate success who would potentially be an employee to ensure customer success. They appear to be one of these companies where some of their employees are allowed to have enlarged egos. Havent made up my mind yet if I would like to work for this company.
- Why are you interested in Coupa?
Escalation Manager
I found this company online and through blogs, and it seemed amazing and the role was exactly what I was looking for. The interview process felt a bit disorganized, starting from the top with a Senior Director and then working down. HR explained this is Coupa's typical structure. I had 4 interviews, not counting the HR parts, all via Skype. The final interview was with someone who would have been a peer, which I thought was odd for a Manager role. This person even told me, 'if you ask me as a friend, this isn't the right position for you because you manage a team now, and here you'd be on your own.' The interview itself went well, but I got a rejection email the next day that even HR seemed unaware of. I tried to get feedback from HR multiple times without luck. Eventually, HR said I was rejected for being 'casual' and unwilling to work flexible hours, which I disagree with. Candidates need opportunities, and HR should provide feedback.
