First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Coty.
Intern
So after getting referred, the HR Manager gave me a call for the first interview. We talked about my fit with the company culture and also my technical knowledge. Then a week later, the hiring manager, who's the PR & Communications Manager for the Prestige Niche Division, interviewed me. This one was more about my actual skills and experience for the job, like if I had the right industry background and strategic thinking for the role.
- Can you tell me about your previous experiences in this department and the skills you gained?
Specialist
Applied mid-November. Had a first interview with HR on Dec 12. Then interviewed with two operational directors on Jan 16. My status changed to "Rejected" on Feb 2 via the candidate portal, with no personal contact. The interviews themselves were good, but the candidate management was bad. After three months, no one contacted me after the final interview, even though I sent thank-you emails and followed up multiple times via email and phone with both the hiring manager and HR. Getting an automated rejection after meeting senior leaders and HR was disappointing and bad for the company's image. Basic courtesy should be given to candidates who reach the management interview stage, at least a personalized response or a reply to follow-ups.
- Please introduce yourself and walk me through your career history.
Manager
The interview felt pretty chill, like a casual chat. Honestly, the hiring manager seemed insincere, which made it easy. They rescheduled meetings, and on the rescheduled one, I had to ask the coordinator if they were joining. I was told they'd have HR schedule the second interview, but there was no response, so I had to chase them three times for an update. The guy's camera was off the whole time, and he mostly bragged about himself (nothing too impressive, though). I might have dodged a bullet there.
- Could you start by introducing yourself?
- Tell me a little about yourself.
Retail Experience
My interview journey started with a professional HR call at my school. Then, I had two more interviews on-site with internal team members, including the Senior Retail Experience Manager and the Retail Experience Project Manager for BURBERRY BEAUTY. I was also given a case study to prepare. All interviews required an in-person visit. The whole process was quite demanding and needed significant personal preparation. Despite going through all the steps and following up via email, I never got any response, which felt frustrating and disrespectful given the effort I put in.
