First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Capita.
Data Scientist
The first step was a recruiter prescreen to check if my background fit the job. Then, I had an interview to gauge my understanding of core data science and BI concepts. After that, there was a 24-hour assessment. The third round involved presenting this assessment. I was supposed to present an executive slide deck following given instructions, but during the interview, they cut me off partway through. I asked for a chance to finish my presentation before the Q&A, but they kept interrupting, which unsettled me.
- Can you explain your grasp of cardinality within Power BI?
- How do you approach data modelling in Power BI?
Technical Support Engineer
Started with a telephone interview and then an in-person interview at their offices. Both interviews were very direct in assessing if you have the necessary skills for the job. The phone interviewer was brief and efficient in getting the important info. The in-person interviewer was a nice and friendly woman who would be my direct manager. She was supportive and seemed genuinely interested.
- What makes you a good fit for this position?
Team Leader
They gave me feedback during the interview but didn't hire me. I'm not sure why I didn't get the role, they said someone answered one question better but wouldn't say which one or why. They said they'd look into it and get back to me, but I never heard back. I tried contacting them multiple times by phone and email, but the recruiter ignored me. During the interview, they said I was a strong and experienced team leader and that if there were two roles, I would have gotten one. They asked me to reapply for another role and contact them for a fast-tracked interview, which I did, and still heard nothing. I don't know what I did wrong to not get the job. It's very disappointing for a company of this size.
- Can you describe how you handle a team member who is not performing well?
Solutions Architect
The interview had two interviewers, and they seemed a bit unprepared. One interviewer was very quiet, while the other asked competency-based technical questions. The interview ran about 40 minutes over the scheduled time. I got the feeling they were trying to find a question that I couldn't answer. There seemed to be some underlying hostility, especially from the quiet interviewer who only asked two questions during the entire one hour and 30 minutes.
- Can you describe the processes used for integration?
