First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Capgemini Engineering.
Data Scientist
I went through a long interview process. First, there was a technical interview that lasted about two hours. It covered my background and my technical skills. After that, I had another interview with the client. It took several weeks to get an offer, and the amount was much lower than what I told them I expected. This was a letdown, especially since we had talked about salary expectations earlier on. The whole process felt like a waste of time and wasn't very clear. The number of interviews didn't seem to match the offer I got, so I spent a lot of time for not a great offer. I think they should communicate better about pay and make sure expectations are aligned from the start.
- Explain the use cases for random forests versus SMOTE.
- What distinguishes a Python list from a Python tuple?
Junior Java Developer
The interview process was quite professional and everything was well-organized. It basically had three main parts. First, there was an HR screening where we talked about my background and if I'd fit in. Then, I had a technical interview that really dug into Java basics like OOP, Collections, and Exceptions. There was also a quick live coding task for simple algorithms. The last step was an interview with the manager, focusing on my past projects, some 'what if' questions, and what my career goals are. The recruiters kept me updated the whole time.
- Could you detail the distinction between an Abstract Class and an Interface, and when would you opt for one over the other within a Spring Boot context?
Software Development Engineer
So, the interview process usually starts with an Online Assessment (OA) which typically has MCQs covering CS fundamentals like OOPS, DBMS, OS, and Networks. You'll also face DSA problems involving arrays, strings, recursion, sorting, and searching. Sometimes, they throw in aptitude or logical reasoning questions too. Then comes the Technical Interview where you're expected to code on a notepad or whiteboard, no IDE assistance. They commonly ask for pattern problems (like stars, pyramids, number triangles). You might also get questions about your projects, basic system design, APIs, and debugging. They're often more interested in your problem-solving approach than just the syntax. The last round is the HR Interview, where they check your communication, attitude, and if you're a cultural fit. Expect questions like 'Why this company?' and 'Tell me about yourself'.
- Tell me about Java, both basic and advanced concepts.
- Do you have any questions related to MySQL?
Robotics Engineer
I applied online at Capgemini Engineering France. Then I had a phone interview, followed by an interview with the N+1 manager, and finally an interview with the N+2. All three interviews went very well. I was told I'd hear back within a week, but it's now been three weeks with no response. I find this lack of follow-up completely unprofessional: it concerns a candidate's effort, hope, and motivation, which deserves at least a response!!!! Also, the HR person isn't responding on LinkedIn. Disappointing for a company of this size.
- Can you tell me about your background and experience?
