It felt like they already had someone internal in mind for the role. One of the interviewers on the panel was really condescending, and he was supposedly the manager for the position. I looked him up, and he had only been with the company for about two months before my interview, so maybe he felt threatened by someone more qualified or he already picked his person.

The interview process was demanding, requiring an in-person final interview irrespective of personal circumstances. I interviewed for the position with Radio 1. It felt like I created a detailed deck of ideas that they took after rejecting me. Crucially, HR assured me the interviewer would provide feedback, but they never did, even after I reached out.

The interview process with the BBC was okay but ultimately disappointing. I talked to two business partners. They were nice, but one seemed uninterested and even kept his jacket on, which felt a bit strange and not very professional. I spent a lot of time preparing a presentation for the process. I liked that the rejection email said I could get feedback, but after I asked for it, they never replied. It was frustrating not to hear back, especially since I put in a lot of effort. Even though the people were mostly fine, the whole thing felt a bit messy and made me wonder how much they value candidates. I expected better from the BBC.

The BBC Software Engineer interview was a really positive experience. It felt organized and efficient, and they were great about respecting my time. Communication was always super clear. The technical part was cool - a pair-programming session using their GitHub code, focusing on actual engineering stuff and design talks, not just random algorithms. Behavioral interviews were also good, lined up with BBC values. The culture seemed professional and open. Overall, a solid hiring process.
