First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BambooHR.
Software Engineer
It was a great interview experience. The technical questions were easy and at most moderate difficulty. Everyone that I met with was very kind and genuine. I would be happy to interview with BambooHR again in the future. I made it to the final, onsite interview stage, but ended up taking a different offer with better compensation. The only negative of the experience was that the recruiter didn't respond to any of my questions over email (over about two weeks and multiple emails) once I made it to the final stage.
- The questions were about conflict management and core values. Not difficult, but they want to see a good conflict management process.
- I think there was a technical question about stored procedures and their pros/cons.
Frontend Software Engineer
It was a 6 step process, but I only made it to step 5 before they had a hiring freeze. First was a Multiple Choice Assessment, then a Recruiter Screen, followed by a Manager Interview. After that was a Take Home Project, and then a Panel Interview where they reviewed my project and asked some behavioral questions. The last step was to fly out for an onsite, but I didn't get to that part. The recruiter mentioned they might be able to hire me next quarter. Next quarter came, no roles were open, so they said maybe the quarter after. Apparently, I was the only developer in my batch who didn't get hired. I got an offer elsewhere and let the recruiter know, then got ghosted. They really overpromised and underdelivered.

HR Business Partner Manager
I applied online and a talent partner reached out quickly to schedule the first interview. This initial conversation was great, the interviewer was knowledgeable about the company and role and asked good questions. They also explained the next steps. Then I interviewed with the hiring manager who was thorough and engaging, and also set expectations for what was next. Although I didn't get the job, I got a timely and personalized update with helpful feedback. The team was professional, transparent, and considerate throughout the process. I was impressed by the insightful questions and how I was treated.
- Can you share a project that highlighted your success in your current position?
Creative Team Member
I applied online and heard back pretty quickly from the recruiter who set up a preliminary call. The recruiter made me feel super comfortable and explained the job, the team, and the interview steps. They asked me some role-specific questions and even helped me improve my profile by pointing out weak spots. A couple of weeks later, I had a second chat with the team manager and their boss. They asked me more about how I'd deal with different scenarios and handle the job duties, though the questions weren't super clear, and one interviewer seemed really anxious. I also got to ask about the role and team. Sadly, I got rejected after that second interview, but I really appreciated how respectful everyone was. If I had moved on, I would have done a skills test and then a final interview. Honestly, three interviews feel like a lot for this kind of job, which probably doesn't pay very much, but hopefully, it helps them find the right person.
