Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BambooHR.
Recruiting Coordinator
A recruiter reached out on LinkedIn. Then I had a 30-min call with another recruiter about my experience and skills. Next, I had an in-person interview with two recruiters and got a tour. I met other employees and they seemed happy. The following week, I interviewed with the Director of HR and the initial recruiter. I was asked to review a video from a LinkedIn Talent Connect conference and discuss it. It was a good conversation, and I could see their investment in the company. BambooHR clearly values culture and hiring good fits. The next day, the recruiter told me they hired an internal candidate. It was disappointing, but the overall experience was great, and I enjoyed interviewing. I believe this company is growing and will be successful. I was very impressed with how everything was coordinated, the interviews, and the recruiting team. I'll keep recommending BambooHR!
- What do you know about BambooHR's culture?
- Describe a time you resolved a conflict with a coworker.
- What motivates you?
Technical Recruiter
I toured the facility and then met with the HR Director and HR Coordinator. They were both really nice and polite. They explained the job and the company really well. Everyone seemed happy and excited to be there, and it seems like a good company with a fun culture. I was a little worried they might ask me weird questions like if I went to church, but everyone was professional and didn't ask anything inappropriate. I was a bit bummed I didn't get a call back to let me know they were moving on with other people. It just feels like if I took the time and money to come meet them in person, they could at least call me to say I didn't get the job; an automated email is impersonal and makes a bad impression.
- Can you share the biggest mistake you've made?
Technical Recruiter
I found out about the role from a referral and went to their office for a meeting with HR and one of the founders. When I arrived, an EA gave me a tour and asked if I was from Utah, and then one of the founders asked me what I like to do outside of work. I felt the conversations went well, but it was clear I didn't align with the Utah county culture. I followed up with several emails and calls for over 3 weeks with no response until I emailed all the founders. For a company that makes HR software, they really missed the mark on the candidate experience. They have a good product, but they're not attracting top talent outside of the local community.
- Where are you originally from?
- What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?
