I made it to the final round! It was a very fast process which I appreciated. My recruiter kept me in the loop throughout the weeks of interviewing. I had a screening call with the recruiter, then a mixed behavioral/technical non-coding interview with the manager, and then the final.

Behavioral Technical

It was a great interview experience. The technical questions were easy and at most moderate difficulty. Everyone that I met with was very kind and genuine. I would be happy to interview with BambooHR again in the future. I made it to the final, onsite interview stage, but ended up taking a different offer with better compensation. The only negative of the experience was that the recruiter didn't respond to any of my questions over email (over about two weeks and multiple emails) once I made it to the final stage.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • The questions were about conflict management and core values. Not difficult, but they want to see a good conflict management process.
  • I think there was a technical question about stored procedures and their pros/cons.

So I got to the last interview stage, I really thought I aced it, but then I just got an automated rejection email. Up until that point, they were super responsive, but after sending that email, they totally ghosted me. No feedback, nothing. It's kind of wild that a company that makes HR software can't even communicate respectfully, especially since they took up so many hours of my time. Anyway, the interview process itself went like this: First, they sent me a link for a test that took about 2-4 hours. It had 16 questions split into coding, SQL, and other question types. The start was easy, but it got harder, like a real coding challenge. The last few questions were open-ended, including the classic 'why do you want to work here?'. Then, there was a 30-minute phone interview, just a standard HR check to see if I was still interested. After that, I had a 1-hour meeting with a manager (not the hiring manager, just a manager) where they asked technical questions but no coding, and we mostly talked about my resume. The last part was 2 hours with engineers. The first hour involved two engineers asking technical questions and some system design problems. The second hour was with two other engineers focusing on culture fit.
