First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Workable.
Sales Manager
It was a solid process overall. Started with an initial interview, then a psychometric assessment. After that, I met with the VP of Sales, and the final stage was an in-person meeting to assess my experience and competencies. There were a few moments where I felt they were a bit unsure about their own process, but given it was for a new role and there was some business restructuring happening, I understood. The HR representative was really nice and kept me well-informed.
- Tell me about how your previous experience can be used to make an impact in 6-12 months.
Senior QA Automation Engineer
The interview process began with an initial screening and a psychometric test that I rushed through. Then there was a week-long assignment which I completed. Following that, there was a technical interview focused on the assignment. After several weeks, I was contacted again for additional tests on advanced Java topics, even though the role wasn't for a Senior Java Developer. The entire process spanned over a month and felt like a waste of time, especially the week I had to juggle the assignment with my current job responsibilities. I suspect this company might be a better fit for junior or mid-level individuals without family commitments, but I'd advise anyone over 35 to steer clear.
- Can you describe how you would build a test automation framework from the ground up that is both scalable and easy to maintain?
Customer Support Specialist
I had a recruiter call, then I took an assessment. After that, I met with the hiring manager, director, and COO. The recruiter was in Athens and it was for an East Coast position, so all the times they sent were in local Greece time. I never got any indication that I wasn't personable or qualified. I waited past the time I was told I'd hear back, which was 3 weeks after my final interview. I got a generic rejection with a slightly different position title. They seem disorganized but have enough candidates to be picky.
- What makes our company stand out against the competition?
Data Analyst Intern
So at Workable, for the Intern Data Scientist role, first the HR team looks at applications, right? They want to see if you've got the right grades, skills, and experience. If you make the cut, there's an online test. This test checks how well you know data science tools like Python, R, SQL, and the basics of machine learning. After that, if you pass, someone from HR gives you a quick call, like 20-30 minutes, just to see if you're motivated and if you fit with Workable. Then, you get to talk to a senior data scientist for a technical interview. They'll dig into your technical smarts and how you solve problems. The last step is a practical test: you get a dataset, have to analyze it, and then present what you found within 48 hours. This shows if you can actually do the job and think analytically.
- Can you tell me about a tough problem you encountered in a data science project and how you solved it?
- What's the difference between supervised and unsupervised learning?
- Give me an example of a real-world application for supervised learning.
