The interview was pretty straightforward and organized. They started by chatting about my background and any leadership experience I have. Then, they asked some questions about how I'd manage a territory, supervise a team, and deal with operational issues. They seemed really interested in my problem-solving abilities, how I make decisions, and if I get how Wave's field operations work. Overall, it felt like a professional and comfortable chat, which made it easy to talk about my past experiences and thoughts.

I first chatted with a Wave recruiter after applying online. Then, over about 9 days, I went through several interview rounds. It kicked off on Thursday with a 30-minute screener, followed by a take-home programming assignment that took me about 4 hours on Friday. The following Tuesday, I had a 2-hour interview focused on monitoring and troubleshooting. On Thursday, there was a 1.5-hour session on critical thinking and rationale, and then a 1-hour culture fit and values chat. By Friday, I got the offer and accepted.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • The take-home task involved coding a rate-limiter function using Python. I was given specific instructions and a code repository with a starting point.

I was contacted by Mr Ibrahima Ndoye, who invited me to an interview for the position of Customer support representative at wave. When I arrived, he asked me to introduce myself and told me about the position and what would be expected of me. He asked me questions about the position, and after I had answered all of them, he confirmed the interview and informed me that I would have to attend another interview with the managers and undergo a medical examination if all went well before being accepted and starting training. So I had the interview with the managers, who approved me, and I also passed the medical examination.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

So the interview process had a recruiter call, then a 24-hour design task that was a take-home, then a call with the lead designer, and then a culture interview with the team. Honestly, the interview and design task felt like they were conducted in bad faith. The assignment was to make a user flow for a feature that isn't even in their app yet. They also asked for 'edge case' user flows but didn't give much info, like technical limits. During the challenge, they gave me mockups and components and told me to use them, but then they dinged me on stuff like the Status Bar color not matching the background, even though their own component and Google Play mockups had the same issue.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Would you be open to traveling to places like Senegal and Uganda for user research and usability testing?
