So after I applied with my CV and cover letter, the first thing was a chat with my direct manager. Then, I had this written task to do. I got about two hours for it, and it was pretty long, just enough time really. The task involved writing a few social media posts and a small article that needed some research, which took the most time. The whole thing took about 3 weeks.

HR scheduled the interview via Zoom and told me there would be 4 interviewers. The first interviewer from HR asked about my qualifications and work experience for the job, my gender, and IT knowledge (I'm not sure about the exact IT questions because I forgot). The last interviewer was a representative from the Project who would ask about my knowledge regarding the project.

The job application process is quite long and can be difficult to navigate. First, the online portal for submitting applications is tedious; after uploading your resume, you still need to manually input your work history. They also ask for salary information from all your previous jobs, which is not legal in my location. Second, during the interview, they mentioned it would take about 6 weeks to hear back. While that's understandable, it often takes longer, and most teams don't bother to inform candidates if they haven't been selected. The portal also keeps old applications active, and it seems like a simple step for HR to send a standard 'not selected' email once a position is filled, but this rarely happens. In contrast, UNICEF's application portal is excellent, and the World Bank's HR department does inform candidates about their status, which is a basic expectation for HR teams.

Applied in November 2024, got shortlisted in January, and received an offer in March. The overall experience was pretty good. I had one pre-recorded video assessment with three competency-based questions. It wasn't my favorite (felt a bit impersonal), but the process was quick and nice. They contacted me about a month and a half later for a 'quick meeting' to just confirm my availability and if I needed a visa.
