First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UNDP.
Project Assistant
HR scheduled the interview via Zoom and told me there would be 4 interviewers. The first interviewer from HR asked about my qualifications and work experience for the job, my gender, and IT knowledge (I'm not sure about the exact IT questions because I forgot). The last interviewer was a representative from the Project who would ask about my knowledge regarding the project.
- Could you describe your experience in supporting gender mainstreaming or promoting gender equity in past projects?
Project Manager
The interview was on Microsoft Teams. About ten questions were asked, covering different categories and difficulty levels. Prior experience in office/business administration, finance/accounting, customer service, record keeping, compliance, and clerical duties was relevant. However, the interview included more than just that. Some questions focused on how to handle stressful situations, asking for a step-by-step approach, which can be tricky when the exact situation isn't known.
- How do you handle managing multiple tasks simultaneously?
Project Manager
We had a physical interview at the UNDP office with people from HR, my potential supervisor, management, operations, and someone from the Government sector. We discussed both technical and competency-based questions. The panel was welcoming, and after an introduction, they asked questions. The interaction lasted about 45 minutes. After that, there was a written test on the computer that needed to be submitted. They made sure I was comfortable and welcomed me warmly.
- Could you provide a technical question based on the latest publication in this field?
- How would you analyze the current field situation?
- What are your thoughts on the earlier publication?
