First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UNDP.
Coordinator
I interviewed with people from the Caracas Office. The vibe was like they were all ex-government officials. They seemed unprepared, and it felt like they were just making things up as they went along.
- Can you define sustainability?
- In what ways do you see the Sustainable Development Goals connecting with your personal life?
Program Coordinator
You'll face a panel interview with 3 people, including someone from HR. It's important to know the UN competency style interviews. They use a CAR (challenge, action, result) method, so do your research and have a few work experiences ready that showcase challenges you've overcome and can tie back to the job description.
- Tell me about a situation where your coworkers resisted your work and how you handled it.
Project Coordinator
First, there's an online application to fill out thoroughly with your experience and education. Then, an online assessment. Mine was a timed written assessment with technical and knowledge-based questions, including describing what I would do in scenarios relevant to the role. Next, a panel interview with my prospective team, line manager, and someone from the country office. The questions focused on my motivation for the job and competency-based questions related to the skills in the job ad. I used the STARL method (situation, task, action(s), result, learning) to answer.
- What makes you a fit for this role?
- What makes you a good fit for the role?
