First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at STERIS.
IT Project Manager
Applied on the company web site in early November; the recruiter reached out within two weeks to set up the first interview. After talking with her for about thirty minutes, she set up a call with the hiring manager. Within a week, I had interviews three and four. Ultimately, I wasn't selected for the role, but the recruiter provided solid feedback, and the entire process was about six weeks (two weeks over the Christmas holiday). I was very impressed with the professionalism of the recruiter and will apply to future roles at STERIS.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Describe a situation where you had difficulty meeting stakeholder expectations.
- What's your approach to managing stakeholder disagreements?
IT Manager
The initial interview went well, and an onsite was scheduled for the following week. However, the director didn't follow up with the recruiter, leading to confusion about who was being interviewed. Apparently, this director is known for being disorganized and difficult to work with, according to the recruiting company. So, even though my time was wasted, I'm glad I got a sense of their leadership style before going any further.
- Tell me about your leadership experience.
- Describe your technical background.
Clinical Liaison
The interviewer rescheduled the interview 30 minutes before it was supposed to start with hardly any notice. Then, the interviewer was 15 minutes late. After that, they said they would follow up the next week after speaking with someone about my background and setting up another interview, but they didn't, not even after I sent a follow-up email. They got back in touch a month and a half later to discuss the status and find a time to talk, but after I sent my availability, I was never contacted again until I was informed that interviews had already begun and someone had accepted the job.
- Can you share an instance where you managed or led a project and describe how you approached it?
Software Developer
I applied about a month ago and got a call from the recruiter which went well. Then, the recruiter scheduled me with the Manager for a Teams behavioral round to discuss my background and experience. After that, they set up 4 online interviews. The first was with the Manager, who asked a series of behavioral questions. Next was a Technical round with the Team Lead, covering MVC Architecture, joins, SQL, ASP.NET, and Blazor in about 30 minutes. The following day, I had an interview with HR for more behavioral questions, and finally, an interview with the Director to talk about my experience.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your work experience?
- What is MVC Architecture?
- Can you explain joins?
