The interview process was pretty laid-back, with two main interview rounds and an accounting assessment in between. The first interview was with the program director, followed by a second interview with the department VP. Before extending an offer, there was a third discussion to go over the compensation plan, which is a bit specialized for this role. The accounting assessments were straightforward, involving two rounds of general knowledge questions and an Excel assessment. However, they allowed multiple attempts for all parts, especially the Excel part because the system is quite sensitive. It didn't seem like the scores were heavily weighted, as long as you performed reasonably well.

I had a really disappointing chat with a Robert Half recruiter about a contract software development gig that paid $23/hr and needed me to move to an expensive city. He was pretty negative about remote workers, calling them 'lazy,' and said hybrid meant just one day remote. It felt unprofessional and like he didn't care about what's important to candidates. Recruiters should stick to figuring out if it's a good fit, not sharing their personal views on work setups.

I have interview with Robert half several times as this is a direct hire agency. The Recruiter was very professional polite. She described the job in great detail. I was informed that the interview process will start with a phone screening then I will go into the office for an official interview. After background checks and on boarding I won’t be able to start in two weeks.

Behavioral Presentation

I put in my application online and a recruiter reached out to me really fast. The hiring process is quite extensive, involving five interviews and a presentation. The interviews took place in person in Melbourne. The person interviewing me was very old school, didn't try to build rapport, seemed unprepared, and didn't take any notes. They asked personal questions that felt irrelevant and invasive. Afterward, I was informed that I wasn't a good fit, without any useful feedback.
