Qualys Interview Questions
& Process

I interviewed at Qualys twice. First time was for a Lead Software Engineer role. I passed all the rounds, but they said I didn't have enough years of experience for the Lead position. The recruiter then suggested I apply for the Senior Software Engineer role. I went through all the rounds again and even provided my previous employment details when HR requested them to move forward with an offer. Now, they're saying it's a budget issue. During the second interview, the hiring manager asked a lot of questions about networking, which felt biased because the role wasn't specifically for someone with a networking background. Communication from the recruiter wasn't very clear.

It started with a recruiter chat, then a technical interview with the hiring manager. After that, there were two more chats with engineers. The interviewers knew their stuff and were professional. They really dug into technical details like cloud security and how to manage vulnerabilities. On the downside, I heard nothing for six weeks after the interviews. And after the final rounds, I got no feedback even when I followed up. The rejection email didn't tell me anything useful. My advice: brush up on deep technical knowledge for cloud security and partner enablement. Also, be ready for things to move slowly and not be very clear.

Qualys management was extremely unprofessional. They reached out a month after I applied for an in-office interview, which was supposed to wrap up all rounds and fill the position in a single day. Even though they gave a specific time, they weren't sticking to it, and my interview got pushed back because there were over 30 candidates. The actual interview went well. After the first part, they made us wait for hours, only to send us home with no clear update on what's next. They also told some people there would be more online rounds later, like assignments. The whole thing was a mess, and they totally ghosted me and most others after the interview, wasting our whole Saturday.

It was a one-hour interview with two people from the team, one based in the US and the other in India. The US interviewer focused more on behavioral questions, which felt more suited for a Customer Success Manager role. I felt a good connection with her. However, the other interviewer from the US team solely asked technical questions, which seemed odd for a non-technical position. He interviewed me as if it were a tech support role, with rapid-fire questions that missed the strategic aspect of this project manager position. He didn't really allow for much of a two-way conversation.
