Marketing Executive
The interview process was efficient overall, with timely communication from the recruitment team and clear information shared at each stage. That said, the overall experience was mixed. The initial recruiter call started approximately 10 minutes late. While acknowledged, it did not set the strongest first impression. During the hiring manager interview, I found the tone and style of communication to be somewhat unexpected. Certain remarks, including a comment suggesting that alcohol can play a role in supporting deal-making, felt out of place for a professional interview setting. As interviews are often a reflection of team culture and working style, this experience led me to reflect on overall fit. While the process itself was smooth, the interview left some questions around alignment with the environment and values I am seeking.
- Can you share an instance where you made an error?
Intern
It was a 5-round process. The online assessment was DSA-focused with 3 questions and 90 minutes. Then there was a debug round where I had to fix a bugged LRU cache in 30 minutes using pen and paper. Interview 1 was DSA-focused with one hard problem, requiring full explanation of intuition, dry run, pseudocode, and complexity analysis, all done on pen and paper. Interview 2 was a system design round where I had to build a tracking app architecture from scratch, covering how it works, the database schema, auth, scaling, and networking protocols, plus some CS fundamentals and resume questions, also on pen and paper. The hiring manager round was friendly, with basic OS questions and personal questions.
- Be well-prepared in DSA and able to solve completely unknown LeetCode hard problems within time limits, such as the binary tree cameras problem.
Support Analytics Intern
The interview process had three stages. First, a quick 5-10 minute call from a recruiter. Then, a 1-hour interview with the department manager. This involved basic background questions (major, university, interest in data analysis) and situational/abstract questions about how I'd approach work. I also got to ask questions. It ended with a brief personal chat. The second interview was about 30 minutes with a higher-up hiring manager. We revisited basic info and discussed how my Tableau experience could yield business insights. Again, I had a chance to ask questions.
- How would you present technical information to people who aren't technical?
- Suppose a data analysis finding contradicts what a superior expects; how would you communicate this to them?
Software Engineer
The interview at Nutanix had a mix of technical and personal questions. It started with an intro, then got into technical stuff like SQL Injection, network security tools (Nmap specifically), and different cyberattacks (like brute force). They also went over SQL basics – subqueries, primary keys, composite keys, and how to write a query for specific data. Then, they asked about IoT sensors, data handling, and general knowledge about cloud and security integration. It finished up with some HR-like questions, like family and how you approach security in the cloud.
- In what places on a webpage could an attacker inject harmful code?
