The interview process was a mix of personal and chemistry-specific questions. The interviewers were helpful and made me feel comfortable. I was interviewed separately, although another candidate was interviewed at the same time. They explained the job expectations and answered my questions well.

The interview process was quite long, lasting nearly two hours. While the interviewers were polite, they asked for things that should have been communicated by the agency beforehand. The role apparently required a very high level of Japanese customer service and also acting as a therapist for expats from conservative business backgrounds. Although the interviewer did save me time by pointing out my skills weren't a match, they gave unsolicited job-hunting advice that felt like mansplaining, even though I had already indicated I was doing those things. Reflecting on it, I felt insulted but also glad not to have been hired.

I got an email a week after applying to set up a phone chat with HR. We talked about the company and some stuff on my resume. Then, a week later, I had a video interview with the Hiring Manager. We reviewed my resume and they asked some basic technical questions. The following week, I did an in-person interview. I met with three upper management folks and got a factory tour. During those chats, they asked STAR method questions. I was told I'd hear back Friday, but I didn't. I had to reach out to HR for an update. It sounds like a great place, and I was bummed I didn't get an offer.
