First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MANTECH.
CNO Developer
I was first contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn. Then I had a call with a PM where they asked some general and minor technical questions. After that, I had a more in-depth video call with the PM and two tech leads. They asked about my previous experience on my resume and mostly technical questions to verify my experience with assembly languages.
- Can you tell me what makes the mips language unique?
Strategy Director
The hiring process spanned several months and involved numerous interviews with multiple people. The interviews covered a wide range of topics, and the teams seemed focused on assessing my fit within the organization. It kicked off with the recruiter discussing my goals and salary requirements.
- Can you describe a time you dealt with a challenging client?
- What are you looking for in terms of compensation?
- What are your career goals?
Systems Engineer
It started with an email and a phone call from the recruiter, then an HR phone screen, followed by a phone interview with the team lead. The recruiter followed up via phone and email. There was no in-person contact until after I had signed the offer and noncompete (this was during Covid). What was really messed up is they never countersigned the offer and actually retracted it after an in-person meeting. They said it was to 'meet the client and get up to speed,' but it turned out to be a secret bonus interview. During this meeting, the client mentioned that my team lead often 'keeps prospective employees on ice' by delaying offer countersignatures. The client didn't ask many questions about my background, even though it was a good fit, but decided I wasn't excited enough about his project and lacked innovation. If I had known it was an interview, I would have been more enthusiastic and highlighted my skills. I thought this whole thing with delaying the countersignature and the deceptive meeting was really unprofessional.
- Can you describe a difficult problem you encountered in your career and explain how you resolved it?
Application Developer
The interview for the application developer role was a cool and useful experience. Everything was organized and fast, from when they first reached out to the end. They really wanted to know about my skills and what I've done. Each interview round went deeper into technical stuff and how I solve problems. What was great is how they talked to me personally. They didn't just check if I knew the tech stuff, but also if I was excited about coding and fit with the company's vibe. Plus, they kept me in the loop with clear and quick messages, making it all easy and upfront. Overall, it was a good vibe and showed they care about making a good place for developers to work together and be creative.
- If the application starts running slow, what steps would you take to figure out why and fix it?
