Software Engineer
I had an interview experience with Lyft in August 2025. I passed the initial DSA round, but unfortunately, another candidate was selected for the offer. I was informed that I could reapply for other positions and would be able to skip to the final stage for a period of six months. In September, I applied for a different role and successfully advanced to the final round. This round involved a laptop interview, a system design component, and an experience-based interview. Based on their description, I anticipated the laptop round to be a task related to day-to-day operations or object-oriented programming. I opted to use Go to demonstrate my abilities. However, it turned out to be another DSA interview, and I didn't finish implementing a heap data structure from scratch within the given time. Even the interviewer seemed unaware of this limitation in Go. The system design and experience interviews went well. I didn't get to meet any members of the actual team I would be working with, including the person listed as the 'hiring manager,' who was actually from a different department. It felt like the recruitment wasn't genuinely for the specific role advertised.

Account Manager
The interview process was quite long, with 7 stages in total. I was given the questions beforehand, which was helpful for prep, but they were demanding and took a lot of time and effort to get ready for. The interviewers had mixed experience levels; some were very seasoned at interviewing, while others were not as much. Most seemed engaged except for the final interview with the Director. After investing so much time, it was disappointing to get rejected with minimal feedback, especially since someone with less experience but a connection got hired.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in Lyft?
- Tell me about a situation where you had to actively remove obstacles.
- Have there been times when you disagreed with management or specific decisions, and what did you do?
Software Verification Engineer
A recruiter hit me up on LinkedIn. We had a 30 min phone screen, then a 1 hour coding test, followed by a 1h30 system design interview. I didn't end up doing the final hour long behavioural interview because they hired someone else. They were super transparent and it was a good interview process overall.

- Could you please introduce yourself?
Data Scientist
I went through the entire onsite interview process, which involved several stages. The interviews themselves were well-structured, covering SQL, Python, product/decision science, and behavioral aspects. The team I met was sharp and engaging. However, after the final interview, communication completely broke down. The recruiter initially said a decision would be made in 2-3 days, but I heard nothing for over 4 weeks despite my follow-ups. Interestingly, the job was reposted on LinkedIn during this time, with no update for me. Eventually, I got a generic rejection email. It was disappointing and unprofessional that there was no transparency or accountability at the end, especially after I'd put in so much time. Lyft could really improve by respecting candidates' time and giving timely, honest feedback.
