Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lyft.
Senior Associate
It was a standard recruitment process for a tech company. Started with a recruiter screen, then a hiring manager interview, and finally a take-home assessment. The recruiter was pretty responsive and things moved along quickly between rounds. The take-home assessment itself is pretty involved, taking about 6-10 hours to finish.
- Can you tell me about a time you utilized a specific technology?

It was pretty straightforward. They were mostly trying to gauge if I could help out drivers and actually get things done. The role requires strong problem-solving skills. A big part of it is finding people who are always ready to jump in and help, which is a core part of their company culture.
- Describe a tough situation from your previous work, how you handled it, its impact on you, and how you've applied what you learned since.

The interview process was standard and formal for the industry practice however lengthy for an entry-level role. There were three interview screenings. Recruiter Phone Call, Team Manager, and then video Behavioral Interview. However, the last interview was broken into 3-4 segments which can take 2-3 hours. A huge lack of communication and disorganisation. My recruiter forgot to send important meeting details which prompted me to reach out. The interviews are spread out, I started interviewing in early December and the final interview was in late January. After following up after the interview, Lyft recruiters ghosted me. It's disrespectful, to say the least, because I feel as if I wasted my entire time when I could have met with another company. To be put through their lengthy interview process and not even be informed that I was not selected is a slap in the face. It's just courtesy. A standard automatic email would have even been enough. But it reflects on how Lyft operates as an organization. I've seen other reviews that say similar things. It makes me dislike Lyft and its platform altogether. Not because I wasn't selected, but in the manner they handle candidates. My advice to the talent team, take tips from Uber.
- Will you sign an NDA before the interview?
