Manager In Training
The interview process for an internal applicant was a lot quicker than an external. I did 2 out of 3 of my interviews over the phone and was able to travel to the store I was applying to for my 2nd interview. Questions were pretty straightforward based on job description but needed pretty in depth answers.
- How can you lead with DEIB practices in the store?
Store Manager
I applied for the store manager role and heard back about a week later to schedule a phone interview. The phone interview led to setting up a culture interview a few days after that. The following Monday, I got an email to schedule a final video interview for the next day. Throughout this, they kept saying Lush wants to ensure you know why you weren't selected if that's the case, like "it's not no it's not right now," and you wouldn't be "left in the ether." After the last interview, they said a decision would be made that week and I'd hear back by the next week either way. It's now been 3 weeks and I haven't heard anything. I emailed after a week with no response. It's disappointing to be ghosted, especially after they repeatedly said they'd update me. A simple email reply would have been good. I expected better from Lush, given how nice everyone seemed and how well I thought the interviews went. The job posting is gone now, so I assume they hired someone. It's really a shame they didn't have the decency to let me know.
- How would you approach leading a team?
Manager in Training
When I applied to become an MIT back in 2018, the process was pretty intense. First, I had to write a ten-page paper detailing all my knowledge about LUSH, including how to manage and train staff, operations, COGs, Labor, KPIs, and hiring. If you've been a Floor Leader at LUSH for a while, it's a good idea to chat with your manager or an MIT about your strong points and especially your weak spots so you can improve before interviewing. The process might be different now, but back then, an RST came to our store and had a meeting with the whole staff, minus me, to give their thoughts on whether I was suitable for the MIT role. Being in good standing as a FL definitely helps your chances!
- How would you address giving constructive feedback to floor staff if you have already spoken to them once about the same issue?
Brand Ambassador
The interview process was an in-person group interview. We were asked behavioral questions and had to do a demo of Lush products on each other. You need to study the products and be comfortable touching people on their hands and forearms.
- Can you share a time when you faced and overcame a challenge?
- Demonstrate the Lush products on one another.
- Are you comfortable with physical contact, specifically on hands and forearms?
