The interview process for the Deputy Manager Engineering role involved several stages, ending with a meeting with a Director. The technical and leadership discussions were professional and insightful, touching on supply chain, manufacturing challenges, and international operations. Unfortunately, after the final interview, the recruiting team went silent, and I didn't get any updates on the hiring decision, even after sending polite follow-ups. While hiring processes can be lengthy, better communication or status updates would have made the experience much better.

I got a call from an HR recruiter who wanted to set up a meeting/interview with an engineer. During the interview process, I was asked six engineering questions. The questions were about sheet loss under normal engine conditions, efficiency loss, SIMULINK principles, and power transfer in a car. Even though the topics were engineering related, the questions were framed to test how well I could explain them.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Can you explain what a unit step is in SIMULINK simulations and describe how to identify it using the material properties of a system?

Went through the interview process for the first time, starting with HR, then the Hiring Manager, followed by the Engineer Manager, and then another Supply Chain Manager (the Director was supposed to be there but was absent, and they didn't reschedule). The final stage was with a Co-worker. The process was pretty standard overall, but the Director no-showing and sending someone else in wasn't ideal. I was initially rejected without a clear reason, but after two months, I was notified that the position was still open, and I got the job the second time around.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Tell me about a time you had to manage competing priorities and how you worked through that situation.

The interview started strong and the team seemed sharp, but after multiple rounds and a verbal offer, the company rescinded it, citing 'no sponsorship', when in reality, I didn't need it. I wasn’t given a chance to clarify, then communication went dark. The disconnect between recruiting and immigration creates avoidable churn and erodes trust; a simple five-minute call before rescinding would have prevented it. The brand suffers when enthusiastic candidates are left in limbo, even by the hiring managers and directors, after being presented with an offer. The people process needs more rigor and accountability.

  • Can you list Lucid's competitors?
