First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Lucid Motors.
Mechanical Design Engineer
The interview process should have been 5-6 rounds in total. The first two rounds were technical interviews, and I felt I did well in those, but I'm not sure why I was rejected. Rounds three and four were panel interviews, and rounds five and six were team-based rounds.
- Could you name the thermal cooling components of a car?
- Were there any resume-based questions asked?
- Were there multiple in-depth resume questions?
Senior Mechanical Engineer
Got a call from the recruiter who wanted to know when I was free for 4 interviews. About a week later, I spoke with the hiring manager. The questions felt pretty standard, a mix of technical and behavioral. It felt less like a chat and more like they wanted to see if I really wanted the job. It was a decent experience overall.
- What are power and energy?
- Can you define a cantilever beam?
- What is cable size?
Mechanical Engineer
I got an email from the manager asking me to explain the differences between an EV and a VTOL system, which I did. I then moved to the HR round, which was fine and had typical questions about salary, relocation, and my general experience. After that, I had a third round, a technical interview with the manager over Zoom. He said he would discuss my past projects and resume experience, plus general technical questions. However, during the interview, he asked nothing about my background or resume, just technical questions that initially made sense but later didn't. To make things worse, the Zoom connection from Lucid Motors was terrible, so I had to keep asking him to repeat himself. Honestly, I'd never recommend this place; the management is bad, and they don't know how to interview or respect a candidate's time.
- Can you explain engineering stress-strain curves?
- What are the technical differences between an EV and a VTOL vehicle?
- What are the considerations in EV?
