Software Engineer
So after the recruiter emailed to set up a phone call, which was 2 days after the onsite, it turned out to be a rejection phone call. They gave me specific feedback from each interview. I appreciated the feedback, but I was kind of expecting an offer when they wanted to chat on the phone rather than just sending a generic rejection email. So the personal touch was a bit misleading but also kinda nice? The interview process included a phone screen, a Codesignal take-home, a behavioral interview with an engineering manager, and a final round onsite in NYC or virtual. The onsite had 4 parts, each lasting 45 mins to 1 hour: Architecture, coding, a PM chat, and an EM chat.
- For the system design, I needed to figure out data modeling, API design, and the overall system design for a JIRA or Kanban type board, and I felt like I could have used more experience with APIs and endpoints, and also knowledge on how to store this kind of data (like what kind of tables to use for this ticket-column-board structure).
- The coding interview was about debugging a script that was purposely confusing for printing manager-employee relationships and identifying how it could be improved.
Account Executive
The process started with an initial screening with the Recruiter, followed by 3 interviews with hiring managers. It was structured as a panel, but the interviews were conducted separately over about 2 hours. There was a roleplay exercise, then another final round lasting around two more hours. The whole process felt long and quite unusual. The hiring managers seemed to misrepresent the role during the interviews, and I wouldn't recommend the role or the process to anyone, especially considering the prep time involved. When I inquired about feedback after not receiving an offer, there was no response. I'm surprised to have completed the entire process with every manager stating I was a good fit, only to be denied an offer. Despite the company's emphasis on diversity, transparency, and inclusion, it appears the organization may be lacking in these areas.

Product Manager
So there were 5 rounds total. First was a 30 min HR screen, then a 30 min chat with an engineering manager, followed by a 30 min meeting with a group PM. After round 3, I got this take-home assignment which was a case question, and I had to submit my write-up 48 hours before the next step, which was the onsite. The onsite was 75 minutes, split into a 20 min case presentation, 10 mins for Q&A, and a 45 minute 'workshop' where I had to create an MVP on the spot. The people in this round were new faces. The final round was with the VP of product. The whole process felt super messy and weird. They never told me what specific product role or team I was interviewing for, even when I asked multiple times. They just kept saying 'it doesn't matter' since it's a 'shared pipeline'. I put in a ton of time and effort, passed all the rounds, got an office tour after being invited onsite, and then got a generic rejection email 3 days later. The rejection email even had 'TEMPLATE' where the job role should have been. It's pretty wild, especially for a company that makes HR software. I can only imagine how they'd treat employees if they actually hired them.
- Tell me about yourself.
- Why are you interested in this role?
- Describe a time you disagreed with a stakeholder.
Customer Implementation Manager
It was an unnecessarily long interview process for a startup. Started with an initial recruiter screening, which was fine. Then a 30 min call with the Hiring Manager, also fine. After that, a take home assignment where I had to reply to a client email, which was also fine. The final round was a Panel Interview that lasted 2.5 hours with 5 different people. This was bad because it did not allow any breaks and was a mental marathon. Each person asked at least 4 questions, so I answered at least 20 questions in a row. It felt like an inefficient use of time because there could have been 2 Zooms with more people instead of 5 separate Zooms. In the end, it was a bad panel interview experience because there was not even a 5 minute break in between to get water or use the restroom. It was an inefficient use of time and a bit of a red flag for the startup. I did not get the offer and when I requested feedback, no replies were given.
