Customer Implementation Manager
It was an unnecessarily long interview process for a startup. Started with an initial recruiter screening, which was fine. Then a 30 min call with the Hiring Manager, also fine. After that, a take home assignment where I had to reply to a client email, which was also fine. The final round was a Panel Interview that lasted 2.5 hours with 5 different people. This was bad because it did not allow any breaks and was a mental marathon. Each person asked at least 4 questions, so I answered at least 20 questions in a row. It felt like an inefficient use of time because there could have been 2 Zooms with more people instead of 5 separate Zooms. In the end, it was a bad panel interview experience because there was not even a 5 minute break in between to get water or use the restroom. It was an inefficient use of time and a bit of a red flag for the startup. I did not get the offer and when I requested feedback, no replies were given.
- Can you share an instance where you faced a setback?
Manager
The interview process was professional and polite but unnecessarily long. I was told there would be four rounds and progressed through all of them but each round had multiple sub-rounds. In the end, I met with 8 different people. I definitely had an opportunity to get to know the company and share about my experience but this process should be streamlined. After the interviews finished, it took them 2 weeks to get back to me but they sent me emails throughout this period saying people were out of the office and they would get back to me as soon as they could. When they did finally call with a rejection, I asked for feedback and wasn’t given anything constructive.
- Can you share a typical situation based on your experience?
Manager
Applied online, recruiter called in about 5 days to schedule a phone screen. The overall experience was good, although I had to chase my recruiter multiple times for a response after providing my availability - they always replied quickly after I nudged them, but it was frustrating to have to push things along. The whole process from applying to getting the offer took about a month. It started with a screening call from the recruiter, then a call with the hiring manager, followed by a two-day panel interview. After that, I had a final chat with another teammate before receiving a quick offer. All the interviews felt like conversations and everyone was really nice. I heard back within 1-2 days after each round.
- Can you share examples of your past experiences that demonstrate standard behavioral competencies?
- Could you elaborate on specific projects from your previous roles, focusing on your contributions and the outcomes?
