First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Justworks.
Sales Development Representative
An external recruiter reached out to me about Justworks and sent my resume over. First, I had a 30-minute phone screen with their sales recruiter. They talked about the company, the job, and some really high-level things. After that, I was invited for an in-person interview that lasted about 2 hours. I met with three people: the manager, a training manager, and the director of sales development. We discussed the compensation plan, the roadmap for the role, and what they're looking for. It seems Justworks has stepped up their interview process compared to what some reviews might say. They extended an offer the very next business day via phone/email.
- What's motivating your decision to leave your current position and join Justworks?
- Could you describe your current sales cycle?
Sales Development Representative
I was contacted by a sales manager shortly after submitting my application to take part in a phone screening. The phone screening was about 25-30 minutes and he asked me basic questions about my prior experience, skill set and ambitions for the future. He then gave me a run-down of the job and asked if I was still interested. And I was! I was then contacted a day later by one of their recruiters to schedule an onsite interview. I took a half day at work and took part in the 2.5-hour onsite interview. I met with five people back-to-back who were representative of various levels of management, i.e. sales manager, sales VP, sales training manager, etc. The only tidbit I have for this part of the process is that one of the team members who interviews you will likely exclusively ask work culture-type questions to see if you would mesh well with team. This part wasn't hard, but I had never been asked about my feelings on work environment preferences. I viewed this particular conversation as very important as it showed the company's commitment to employee satisfaction and a rich culture. The next day, I was invited back to interview with the CEO, Isaac. While interviewing directly with the CEO sounds intimidating, it was actually a very pleasant experience as Isaac is easy going, friendly and incredibly smart. I thought this interview went well but was a bit nervous leaving my "final" interview. The next day I was contacted by the person I did the initial phone screening with and met officially during the onsite interview with an offer. The offer was great for someone just starting out in sales and I enthusiastically accepted!
- Could you tell me about the strengths and weaknesses of your current boss?
- Can you describe a situation where your competitiveness proved to be beneficial?
Sales Development Representative
The interview process at Justworks was pretty straightforward. After applying online, I was contacted by a recruiter to schedule my initial phone interview. This call was with a sales development manager, and it was a positive and productive conversation. Following that, I was invited for an in-person interview at their office. There, I met with the SDR Trainer and two SDR Managers. We discussed my work experience and my interest in joining Justworks. Meeting everyone and visiting the office was a pleasant experience, but things took a turn afterwards. About a week and a half passed without any communication from the HR recruiter. While I understand HR has many applicants to manage, it would be courteous to update candidates who have invested time in an onsite interview. It wasn't until I followed up with the recruiter myself that I learned they weren't proceeding with my application. I'm okay with not getting the job, but keeping candidates who came to the office informed is a basic courtesy. I found the lack of communication to be unprofessional.
