Campaign Operations Associate
I had a phone call with a recruiter. They asked me about my background, why I'm interested in the company, and why I want this specific role. It was a nice chat, but I never got any follow-up, not even a rejection. The call was on January 26th.
- Could you walk me through your experience?
- What motivates your interest in our company?
- What specifically about this position appeals to you?
Data Scientist
First, there was an HR call, then a call with the hiring manager where we talked about my past experience and skills. After that, I had a take-home assignment where I had to build an ML model for a business question. Finally, there were 3 rounds of panels where I had to walk through the take-home assignment, answer behavioral questions, and discuss team culture.
- Can you provide details about your ML and statistics knowledge?
Designer
I applied for a remote associate designer job, and soon after, I had an initial 20-minute phone screen with a Senior Recruiter. I was told the interview process would have 4 parts: the first phone screen, an interview with the hiring manager, a design challenge, and then a 1-hour to 1-hour and 45-minute interview session that would be split between a panel interview to present the design challenge work and a separate culture interview. I was selected to move forward and received an email confirming the next interview, which included a Zoom link. Later that day, I got an email saying I was no longer being considered because the role would now be hybrid, needing 2 days in the Denver office, and I live out of state. Then I got a notification canceling the interview we had scheduled just hours before. The recruiter apologized in the email, offered to answer any questions or concerns, and said they'd reach out if any remote roles that might be a good fit came up. While I appreciated the recruiter's communication, this felt like internal disorganization. It would have been way more professional and sensible to figure out the role's location requirement before advertising it.
- Is $60k the maximum salary, and if so, is that okay with you?
Marketing
It’s an unnecessarily long process: recruiter screen, hiring manager interview, an unpaid project, then present the project in a panel interview plus 2 more panel interviews that they try to schedule back and back all in one day that takes several hours. The home project was a ton of work completely unpaid, benefitting them directly, and very unethical. The project presentation panel interview was with 3 people. Followed by an interview with 2 people and then another interview with 2 people as well. It was very shocking that it took 7 people to interview and make a decision for the role. It was an extremely rigorous, intense process that was not fit for an entry level position that only required one year of experience. That made me realize they are huge time wasters and unable to make decisions. I asked a question about the specific role in one of the interviews and the interviewer clearly had no idea what the role entailed… Which made me think they were just setting up interviews to waste time because they didn’t even know anything about the position. There were several red flags throughout the process. It was very tedious and clear that they do not respect your time. I was not impressed at all with their process, team, or even their marketing strategy.
